DIY Ukulele Strap w/ no permanent hardware

Awhile back I posted a blog about a few different ukulele straps that you can buy.  I really like the design and idea behind the Uke Leash.  Well, I was thinking about that one day and realized that it is very possible to make your own diy uke leash out of a couple materials that you probably already have lying around the house.  I still like the Uke Leash better, but if you're in a pinch or just don't have the cash right now to buy one, here's what you can do...

You can use the strap off of a book bag, travel bag, or even a big lunch box (like the one to the left).

The other thing you'll need is a piece of Velcro.  This will go around the headstock and attach to your strap.

Here's the strap detached from the lunchbox.

The Velcro will fit through that little loop on the strap like so.

Just wrap the Velcro around the headstock....

After that's attached, toss the strap over your shoulder and slip your strumming arm through the strap.  You can see that I'm very happy about this!

The only thing left to do is proceed to rock out!  Preferably in your pajama pants.

And there you have it.  A simple way to make a diy ukulele strap.

  2. I can see one end is attached to the headstock with the velcro loop, what is the other end attached to and how?

  3. Hmmm, not seeing a suggestion for attaching the metal clip on the other end of the strap to the butt button. How did you accomplish said feat?
